Heavy-duty diesel repair in Greenville, SC

A truck sitting on the shoulder of 385 is not making money, and neither is one parked at your yard waiting on somebody to call you back. Greenville runs on final mile and private fleets, which means when a unit goes down it usually goes down in traffic, in town, on a route that has to run again tomorrow. We come to you across Greenville, and when the job needs a bay, our shop is twenty minutes up 85.

Where Greenville trucks actually go down

385 running into town is the stretch we get called to most. The interchange where 385 meets 85 around Woodruff Road is another, and so is the Augusta Road exit off 85 southbound, at the split that sends you toward Mauldin one way and downtown the other.

Those are not random spots. They are where dense traffic meets merging freight, and a unit that ran fine on the interstate finds its limit in stop and go.

What puts a Greenville truck out of service is usually not exotic. It is a DOT stop that turns into an out of service order, a power or electrical failure on the unit, or a tire. Common cause failures drive most of the road calls we run, which is also why most of them were preventable a week earlier. If your units are getting written up at the scale, the fix is upstream of the roadside. If they are dying without warning, it is usually the electrical side.

A different fleet mix than the rest of the Upstate

Greenville is denser and more residential than Greer, Duncan or Spartanburg, and the equipment reflects that. You see more straight trucks than tractors inside the city. More final mile. More private fleets running a route rather than a lane. Service-front and shop-front businesses running their own vehicles.

Less interstate per unit and more stop and start per shift changes what wears first. Brakes and tires take more cycles. Electrical takes more door slams and more idle. A truck doing forty stops a day is a different animal from one that runs three hundred miles and parks, even when it is the same chassis.

There is distribution here too, particularly out toward White Horse Road, and the 85 corridor still cuts through everything. So we see both: the local straight truck that never leaves the county, and the tractor that came off 85 and needs a bay.

Coverage

Where our Greenville coverage runs

The 385 corridor from the 85 interchange into downtown. Woodruff Road and east toward Mauldin. West out to the White Horse Road corridor. South to the Piedmont edge, where the Greenville market runs into ours.

If your yard is inside that, we come to you. If you are just outside it, call anyway and we will tell you straight whether it makes sense.

On your yard

On-call mobile means we come to your yard for scheduled preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, brakes, tires and on-site repair, so the unit stays where it earns. On call also means a real technician answers, not a dispatch queue. You will know who is coming and when before you hang up.

In our bay

When the job needs a lift, a teardown, or diagnostics that only make sense in a bay, our shop is at 200 Shortie Street in Greer, twenty minutes up 85. And if the unit cannot make the trip under its own power, we arrange the tow and bill it as part of the repair. One call, one invoice, and you are not standing between a tow company and a shop trying to get a straight answer out of either one.

What a day down costs a Greenville fleet

On a final mile route, a truck out of service is not one repair. It is a day of stops that has to go somewhere. Either you cover it with a unit you did not plan to use, or the stops slide and somebody calls you about it.

Fleets running ten to fifty units feel this fastest, because there is no spare depth. One truck down is five percent of the fleet and usually more than five percent of the day.

That is why we push preventive maintenance and DOT readiness harder than a shop that only makes money when something breaks. It is cheaper to find a brake out of adjustment in your yard on a Tuesday than to find it on the side of 385 with a driver sitting in the cab.

“Turbo blew on 85. They took care of getting me towed to their shop. The next day, they jumped on my 379 pete and swapped my turbo and air to air. Charged my ac and was on my way.”

Greenville questions, answered

Do you come to Greenville, or do I have to bring the truck to Greer?

Both work. We run on-call mobile across Greenville, so for preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, brakes, tires and most on-site repair we come to your yard. For work that needs a lift or a teardown, the shop is twenty minutes up 85 in Greer. If you are not sure which one your job needs, call and we will tell you.

Can you do a DOT inspection at our yard?

Yes. Yard inspections are part of what mobile service is for. Running them on your schedule, in your lot, is a lot cheaper than finding out at a scale house that a unit is going out of service. If we find something during the inspection, you get the number before we fix it.

What if the truck cannot be driven to your shop?

We arrange the tow and bill it as part of the repair. One call, one invoice. That happens more than people expect, and it is usually the right call when the alternative is a technician doing bay work on the shoulder of 385 in traffic.

Do you work on anything smaller than a Class 8 tractor?

If it is diesel, yes. A lot of Greenville runs on lighter diesel units, service trucks and three-quarter and one-ton pickups working routes out of shop-front businesses. Same diagnostics, same approach, same quote before we start. If it is gas, we are not your shop, and we will tell you that on the phone rather than after you drive over.
